These swimming camels are Kharai camels. They live in the mangrove islands of Gujarat, India, where they need to swim long distances to travel between the islands to forage food. 

I don’t know if all camels can swim, but Kharai camels are the only ones who regularly swim long distances.

Finally, did you know that there are actually three subspecies of camels? There’s the dromedary, which makes up 96% of the world’s camels. 

The dromedary only has one hump at its back.

The rest of the world’s camels are mostly Bactrian camels, who have two humps.

#8. Why Honeybees Are Dangerous

When a bee stings, the barbs at the end of its stinger catch in its victim’s skin. 

The bee must leave its rear behind as it exits, but that is not the end of the pain: the stinger continues to pump venom—a mix of 40 various ingredients—for 10 minutes, and a pheromone is released to alert nearby bees to attack.

Small , ugly looking , venomous insects with a shiny and strong exoskeleton and a stinger in its tail. I’m quite sure you guys know this insect.

1.Scorpions give birth to live young: Unlike other insects, which generally deposit eggs outside their bodies, scorpions produce live babies.

 

2.Scorpions can survive anywhere and on anything. Scorpions are champions of survival. A scorpion can live without food for one full year.

3.Scorpions dance before mating. Yes you read it right.Scorpions engage in an elaborate courtship ritual, known as the promenade à deux(literally, a walk for two). The dance begins when the male and female make contact.

4.Scorpions glow under ultraviolet light. Scientists are still debating, scorpions glow under ultraviolet light. A scorpion's cuticle, or skin, absorbs ultraviolet light and reflects it as visible light.

 

5.Scorpions are ancient organisms. Fossil evidence shows that scorpions have remained largely unchanged since the Carboniferous period .They lived in sea but came ashore nearly 420 million years ago.

 

#4. Fish That Can Climb Rocks!

Yes you read it right.

Its called the waterfall climbing cave fish, which can walk and climb up steep, slippery rocks in rapidly flowing water. They are found in the caves of Northern Thailand.

And guess what, the fish is blind.

No, this is not a Ridley Scott creation. This is a hagfish. They are often called slime eel (we’ll get to the slime part). But they are not eels at all, they are in fact agnathans. And they’re some of the most interesting creatures on the planet.

Hagfish are very primitive and have a circulatory system that consists of four hearts. Scientists are not sure if hagfish can be classified into their own group of animals, as their agnathan classification lands them in between vertebrates and invertebrates, or are they more related to vertebrates.

Animals have developed an array of fascinating mechanisms to defend themselves against predators; mechanisms like spikes, horns, venom, electric shocks, shells, wings, and the list goes on. 

But what did hagfish develop? Slime. Out of everything in the world that could ward off a predator, slime was the hagfish’s answer.

• Black mambas are fast, nervous, lethally venomous, and when threatened, highly aggressive.
• The black mamba takes its name not from the color of its scales, but from the interior of its mouth, which is inky-black.
• It is also the fastest moving snake in Africa, and one of the fastest moving snakes in the world, capable of moving up to 9.9 miles per hour (16 kilometers per hour).
• It is the longest species of venomous snake in Africa, and the second-longest venomous snake in the world after the king cobra. They can grow up to 14 feet long (4.25 meters), though their average length is around 8 feet (2.4 m).
• As little as 2 drops of its venom can kill a person and a mamba can have up to 20 drops of venom in its fangs.
• This snake can lift two-thirds of it's body off the ground when striking.

The snake proteins — called mambalgins — were discovered as part of a search for alternatives to opiate drugs such as morphine. 

Many patients grow tolerant of opiates, requiring higher doses over time, and the opiate drugs often cause side effects such as nausea, constipation and drug dependency.

We do not see such side effects with mambalgins.

No snake in this world is as deadly, swift and potent as a Black Mamba...

Even the Indian cobra pales significantly in comparison to this snake, which is very elusive, fast moving, very aggressive and can easily be terrestrial or arboreal in nature. 

This is an adaptable snake and can survive in a variety of places.

These fearsome snakes can strike up to 12 times in a row. A single bite is capable of killing anywhere from 10-25 adults. The venom is a fast acting Neurotoxin. Its bite delivers about 100–120 mg of venom, on average; however, it can deliver up to 400 mg.

This snake very rarely delivers a dry bite and its front facing fangs rarely miss the mark.

It injects venom into its victims every time it strikes, and boy does it strike like lightning..... every time without fail.

If the venom reaches a vein, 0.25 mg/kg is sufficient to kill a human in 90% of cases. The initial symptom of the bite is local pain in the bite area, although not as severe as snakes with hemotoxins. 

You could survive a Mamba bite if you are put on an artificial respirator and a heart and lung machine which will do the breathing for you.”
