The role of Dr. Hannibal Lecter was originally to be played by Gene Hackman, who also wished to direct; but he later withdrew from the project owing to the evolving screenplay's graphic content. The role later on, as we all know, was played by Antony Hopkins which landed him an Oscar Award.
What is amazing is that it was only the third movie to win the Big Five Academy Awards : Best Picture, Best Director (Demme), Best Actor (Hopkins), Best Actress (Foster), and Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay) (Ted Tally).
But thats not the most mind blowing part. Hopkin's portrayal of the cannibalistic serial killer is one of the shortest lead performances to win an Oscar, as Hopkins only appears on screen for little over 16 minutes, less than 14% of the film's running-time.

Kip Thorne won a scientific bet against Stephen Hawking upon the astrophysics theory that underlies Interstellar (2014). As a consequence, Hawking had to subscribe Penthouse magazine for a year.

Each minute of the final footage for Avatar took up about 17.28 GBs of storage!!
Creating the Na'vi characters and the flora and the fauna of Pandora occupied over a petabyte of data.
During the production of James Cameron's Avatar (2009), to render the animations, a server farm was set up, deploying 4,000 HP servers, with 40,000 processor cores with 104 TBs of RAM and 3 petabytes of network area storage running Linux, that executed 1.4 million tasks per day, which consisted of processing 8 gigabytes of data per second running 24 hours for over a month.
Due to the huge amount of data involved, Microsoft had to create a new cloud computing Digital Asset Management (DAM) system especially for Avatar. It was named Project Gaia.

Many believe that the Hospital scene from the Dark Knight, where Joker taps the remote and looks at the building before it explodes was improvised by Heath Ledger!
Reality
