Harry Potter, the film series which when ended, also ended the childhood of many 90s kids. Those who grew up watching Harry Potter and Severus Snape love-hate relationship along with Voldemort trying to return to the real world.

With millions and millions of fans and immense love of the people, Harry Potter has been the one of the most famous characters in the world. Even many just don't know the real name of the actor (Daniel Radcliffe) who played Harry Potter.

People say like this, "Hey, do you know Harry Potter is the actor is Swiss Army Man, Let's go watch it." :)


But there are many unknown facts about whole Harry Potter series that you never knew. So here we are counting upon our list of Top 10 Harry Potter facts that will amaze you.

#10. The Battle At Hogwarts

No matter how much we all criticize the movies, we can't deny how well the Battle of Hogwarts was depicted (till they ruined it with Harry - Voldemort 1 vs 1). However, there is a very important reference a lot of people might have missed. We notice the trio running around through the action

But that wasn't just it. The trio faced, in order, a troll-like (actually a giant) creature holding a weapon.

Followed by a hoard of Acromantulas.

Facing a werewolf and dementors

And the Order of The Phoenix and DA coming for help.

And finally, facing the Half-Blood Prince.

Each instance is a reminder and reference to how the trio grew together throughout the series. How they struggled, faced dangers and had to tackle them. How it all blended together to give us an experience that we might not forget ever. It's a homage to the series

#9. The Scar

The Boy-Who-Lived was marked with a lightning bolt shaped scar on his forehead. It's unclear as to why it was shaped like a lightning bolt. 

 
One popular assumption is that the bolt is in-fact made of two sevens. As we know 7 is the most powerful magical number in the Potterverse. It's considered to be a nod to that itself.

The spells provided for those duels had symbols attached to them indicating the wand movements. Potter had a hidden wand movement for the Killing Curse - Avada Kedavra. The movements were based on a lightning bolt.

Harry's scar is in the shape of a lightning bolt because the curse that was supposed to kill him, followed that shape, and left a literal mark on Harry.

#8. Dobby's Death

• Dobby died saving Harry and the others. An act of bravery that caused millions of fans worldwide hate Rowling in mere seconds.
  
  

  ‘Least I could do, Dobby,’ said Harry, grinning. ‘Just promise never to try and save my life again.’
  The elf’s ugly brown face split suddenly into a wide, toothy smile.

      As we all know, the next time Dobby technically/officially saved Harry's life, he
      ended up being killed. In a twisted manner, Dobby's death was a consequence to
      him breaking that supposed promise.

#7. Dark Themes in the Books

There are two interesting aspects that the books and Rowling have implied rather than state so explicitly. First is Aberforth and the Goats.

In the Goblet of Fire Dumbledore said his brother was prosecuted for practicing inappropriate charms [JKR buries her head, to laughter] on a goat; what were the inappropriate charms he was practicing on that goat?
JKR: How old are you?
Eight.

JKR: I think that he was trying to make a goat that was easy to keep clean [laughter], curly horns. That's a joke that works on a couple of levels. I really like Aberforth and his goats.

But you know Aberforth having this strange fondness for goats if you've read book seven, came in really useful to Harry, later on, because a goat, a stag, you know. If you're a stupid Death Eater, what's the difference. So, that is my answer to YOU.

Without getting into the details, Rowling might have been hinting at Bestiality. The second would be the interaction between Umbridge and the Centaurs. No physical harm. Not even a scratch. 

Centaurs have a nasty history in Greek mythology, primarily based on them abducting human women and, well, raping them. Yes, it's quite possible that Umbridge was raped by the Centaurs.

#6. "Reveal Your Secrets"

We all remember the scene when Snape tries to have the Map reveal information about itself. The hilarious insult and mockery that follow, kept me laughing.

Initially, it was thought that it was a result of a default fail-safe mechanism where similar messages would be displayed whenever someone tried to force-reveal the Map for what it is. 

 

However, we find out that the Maruader's and Snape have a history. They purposefully added that exact text in case Snape ever tried to open the Map!

#5. Ancestors of Harry

Harry comes from quite a successful family. Financially, politically and magical legacy wise.

Fleamont Potter, Harry's grandfather, invented Sleekeazy's Hair Potion, that was used by Hermione for the Yule Ball. 

Fleamont also came from a long line of potion-makers, such as, Linfred of Stinchcombe, who created the earliest versions of Skele-Gro and the Pepperup Potion. Fleamont was responsible for most of the Potter's fortune.

Henry and Ralston Potter were members of the Wizengamot.

#4. Trelawney's Predictions

We all know she is full of it. But maybe she's full of it, only, most of the times.

Later in the books, we learned that Harry was a Horcrux. A piece of Voldemort's soul was attached to him. Tom Marvolo Riddle, was born on 31st December. 

What if, she was making a prediction about Voldemort's soul inside of Harry?

#3. Dumbledore and Grindelwald

We all know that  Dumbledore was gay. Rowling released that information years ago.

However, what isn't apparent is that Dumbledore might have been in love with Grindelwald.

That's why he found it so difficult to give up on him and that's one of the reasons why he delayed facing him in a battle that was remembered for decades.

#2. Neville's Extra Points

Neville stood up to his friends. The cowardly boy with no ounce of apparent courage finally stood tall in front of people and that too his friends. Dumbledore had once failed to do that. He lost everything that mattered because he failed to do that. 

Dumbledore was overwhelmed probably by the act of braveness by Neville at his young age. Those points weren't from someone who was wise enough to understand how difficult it must have been for that 11 year old. 

Those points were from someone who had failed to stand up to the love of his life for the sake of his family.

Remember this Dumbledore?

Yes, he is Richard Harris. Who played Dumbledore for first two installment's of Harry Potter Franchise.    

Well, at first he declined to play role of Dumbledore due to declined health conditions also saying, "Because, you see, I don't just want to be remembered for being in those bloody films, and I'm afraid that's what's going to happen to me."

But then he literally yielded before 11 year-old girl who intimidated him for not taking role in movie. She adamantly threatened never to speak to him again if he did not take role. After that without reasoning he signed for role.
 
Now you will ask who was that girl? Well, she was Die hard fan of Harry and his magic world. She was Richard's own Grand-daughter. Ella Harris. 

She literally decided to sacrifice her Grandpa's love over Harry's love. 

Isn't that something?
